Research Projects & Products

meet with our professional experts

With over many years of experience assisting customers worldwide, Cellucycle offers broad and deep industry expertise and the ability to tailor best-of-breed technology and solutions to your company’s specific business needs and objectives.
The current global environmental development and trend have clearly indicated a strong demand for research and development in environment and green technology. As result, we are highly motivated and focusing on research work to create value added products from post-consumed such paper, plastic and polyurethane foam materials. Our Research Work Products or Scalable Products include:

  • Foam Paper As Building Insulation Materials

In this project, a light weight and highly porous 3D foam paper material from cellulose fibres (or any paper product) has been developed. The 3D foam paper product can be used as thermal insulation and acoustic materials and to replace current petroleum based insulation materials such as polyurethane and Styrofoam. The high porosity and presence of air pockets has made foam paper as the most suitable thermal insulator material for insulation and packaging. The flow-ability of wet foam paper enabled us to produce foam paper in any structure, size and thicknesses which can be fitted for any custom made application. As a benchmark, one inch of our foam paper insulation has an R-value of 3.8.

  • Converting Cigarette Filters to Pipe Insulation

Cigarette filters are the most common form of litter in the world, as approximately 5.6 trillion cigarettes are smoked every year worldwide. Of those it is estimated that 4.5 trillion cigarette filters become litter every year, ending up in ocean. We have innovative idea for collecting cigarette butts from street. Not only that, we have also experimentally demonstrated that these litters can be converted to value added products such as anticorrosion additive, pipe insulation materials and non-woven fiber mat for filtration application. • Plastic/paper Composite to Foam Insulation and packaging materials

Cities around the globe are trying to take action towards addressing environmental issues related to the disposal of single-use items, more specifically polyethylene coated paper cups or coffee cups. In Metro Vancouver alone, 2.6 million polycoat paper cups are thrown in the garbage each week. The number swells to a striking 2 billion disposable coffee cups annually in just Canada. In our research we will utilize a green solvent-free process beginning by suspending the coffee-cups pre-shredded pieces in water. A uniform suspension is a key for reproducing new materials and therefore cup are refined to micron sizes. Rather than going through a separation and filtration process, we examined a new procedure to convert the whole suspended material into a new value added products. This new process includes creating a homogenous suspension followed by production of 3D foam paper and 2D cardboard paper products.

  • From Waste Mineral Wool to Building Materials

In Canada, Cellucycle has been trying to provide the first service enabling the recycling of Fiber-glass and Mineral-wool waste recovered after the construction, demolition or renovation of a building, back into new building insulation products. We hope that this service provides a response to new environmental regulations and the recent Canadian circular economy roadmap, offering a solution for tons of glass-wool waste that might otherwise end up in landfill. This can be born from a partnership between Cellucycle Enterprise and different professionals from the recycling sector (waste collectors, trade associations). After several years of R&D and assessing market needs, Cellucycle and its partners naturally coming together to create this new offer for a rapidly changing construction waste recycling market.
